The Munit plains Empty The Munit plains

The region to the south of Darasum is known as the Munit plains. The Munit is a large savannah inhabited by strange and wonderful beasts and it is predominantly settled by Elves. It is the most heavily contested region in all of Darasum, constantly being fought over by both the Imperial Elves of Ironwood, and the half-breed offspring of the once mighty High Elves, known as the Grand Elves.
The Grand Elves have formed a resistance movement against the Imperial ambitions of Ironwood. For the last two centuries they have resisted, yet with their northern settlements being devastated by a war with the Dread followers and the Imperium at once they are on the brink of collapse. Only a few Elvish strongholds still remain to repel the Imperium and the Human nations north of the Munit are blissfully unaware of the threat from which the Elves protect them - often looking upon them with scorn.
Very few have an exact estimate to the size of the Munit; but it is believed to stretch two fold the size of the rest of the continent, none from the northern half have ever even ventured within Imperial lands. Not even the great scholar Cornelius Fischer. After the vast array of land controlled by the Imperium, lies a small wooded territory that the last remnants of the once great Aer Empire live in. They often make the flight around to the northern tip of the plains, to aid the Grand Elves in their struggle. It is not too rare to see one of the famous bird men flying over the savannah.
A little bit of the notable geography of the Munit plains is Raiag-kai mountain, which rises up from the middle of the plains, the Imperiums capital "Central" is built around the base of the mountain and the Emperor sits at the top in his throne. Raiag-kai which roughly translates into our speech as "The Mountain that Graces god." is the tallest mountain in the world. If the leaders of men realised the feats of magic the Imperium were capable with maybe they'd be quicker to aid the struggle.
The plains touch the very southern most tip of Darasum; and at the end is an archipelago known as the "Feather lands". The Feather Lands contain heavy jungles and are completely uncharted; but for convenience sake, are grouped in with the rest of the plains. These islands are inhabited by the Avany; a primative, savage and cruel race akin to the proud Aer. Not even the Imperium dares to venture on the islands, for fear of angering the Avany who it is presumed number in the hundreds of thousands. (The Imperium is still reeling from its narrow victory over the ancient Aer Empire who were known for their small numbers.)
Around the northern tip, that which we are more accustomed with lie great ancient forests planted by the High Elves of old. Unfortunately the only two left safe from the Imperium, are the relatively new forest of Novawood and the old Grand Elf capital of Alphawood. Alphawood was lost temporarily but the Grand Elves led valiantly by the "Keepers of the Grove" (See Grand Elves,) managed to secure it back after one hundred and twenty years of occupation.
The next notable geographical area is the Terra Hill land within the central northern region, within it lies the capital of Highever, Vaylence. The legendary marble city carved out of an entire marble quarry by the ancient High Elves. It remains the stronghold from which the Grand Elves continually rally behind stubbornly resisting the might of the Imperium. The Terra Hill land is a region of marble reserves, stone hills and many barrows containing the tombs of ancient Elven kings.

The Munit plains is an area constantly at war and one very familiar with fighting for its life. The Second Age will be almost entirely determined by the success of Highever... Or its defeat.

The factions that reside within this geographical region are:
Highever: The buffer between the northerners and the seemingly all powerful Imperium, the people of Highever are constantly fighting for their lives against their southern neighbour. They used to be on good terms with the Dwarves of the Chavlarus mountains; but with what looks like a steady end to the war with the Imperium, they've not had time. Caravans flowing from Redrook to Vaylence, have begun to wane and the Dwarves consumed by their civil war, have forgotten their former allies. Of course while things may appear bleak for the Grand Elves of Highever, they haven't let it get to them and they are still the proud, musical people of legend. Led by their council of Elders, the Grand Elves intend to resist untill the last - whether or not the aid from the North that they all secretly dream of, comes or not.
Capital: Vaylence

The Imperium of Ironwood: The largest and by far most powerful nation in the world, the Imperium of Ironwood takes up all but: the small northern tip of the Munit and the Feather Lands. They are led by their immortal Emperor who is nameless outside of the Imperium, in fact it is considered dishonourable for an Imperial to name him, and will not even if tortured. The strongly xenophobic and ambitious people of the Imperium, wish to enslave all in the name of Meirn, following some skewed logic. While their culture may seem alien and backwards at times, they are a very real threat and even successfully defeated the once great powerful Aer Empire (Granted at no small cost.) The war banners are being unfurled and the Steel Cloaks have begun their march, Imperial sages have decreed that this age will belong to Ironwood. Will the North be able to resist them?
Capital: Central

The Aer Remnants: Thousands of years ago the dominant force in Darasums southern half was the Aer empire. The mysterious Aer took Darasum by storm swooping in from the skies and slaying all who opposed them, they introduced law and justice into the primative societies of the Munit. Unfortunately for them they had sewn the seeds of their own destruction, the races who they had plucked (Quite literally) from savagery and placed into the civilized world did not sit idly-by. They utilised the tools given to them by the Aer and one by one rose up defeating them. Until all that remained was a legacy. Now having finally been crushed the last few hundred Aer, try and live peacefully in the forest they're contained in. But the fire of revenge burns bright in their heart and the actual greeting in their language now is - "Rendi Imperiu" which translates to - Death to the Imperium.
Capital: Unknown

The Avany: Not much is known about the mysterious Avany who live in the Feather Lands, a moderately sized archipelago. The are greatly feared within the Imperium because they're able to reproduce faster than anyone and have the same advantages over the Imperiums prized mages that the Aer did. While the Avany are not of the same race as the Aer, they're similar in nature and are one thousand times more savage.
Capital:Unknown
