The Elyrienx Empty The Elyrienx

Among some of the most mystifying creatures and least documented are the Elyrienx, a race of beings with immense opportunity do make something of themselves, to have a greater claim to the chapters of history books than they do, yet see no reason to it. They are shapeshifters, or changelings, as their dwarven name 'Elyrienx' touches upon, meaning illusion. The reside in the Chavlarus mountains, the caves of the Burenar desert, the tree canopy of the Great Forest, the cliffs and canyons of the South East, and the underwater or seaside cliffs of Axony. Their kind have been around since the time of the Aer, having served as messengers and errant-runners of the First Empire, and after the Great Fall, pledged service to the Teblaar in exchange for the protection of the specifics regarding their past and present locations. It is curious, that such an ancient and potentially powerful race could stand aside in the shadows of lesser races that bloom and fade, yet for the Elyrienx it is simply answered; players win, players lose, some get the best of hands, others the worst, yet as time goes on they all tend to fall. To avoid such a scenario for their race the changelings chose to live in the background, out of the spotlight of the world. There was a single time in history that brought global attention to the Elyrienx, when a small clan had decided to play against their vows, yet were quickly subdued by their people's chosen pursuers. To ensure such an event would never again occur, the immortal Elyrian Lord, M'leitan Tchsykath
, most powerful of his kin made a vow to his people; should another attempt the likes of those who'd been slain he would transform them into whatever they feared becoming the most. It would seem questionable as to whether he could do such a thing as no Elyrian is capable of turning into another of its kin,--with the exception of the king himself. Thus, given his ability to be virtually anyone or thing, among the changeling society at any time, the smallest of fractions of the population that have tried have been captured and kept from the world.

Their original form, similar to that of humans which came long after them, but for horns, scaled rocklike exteriors and milky white eyes. Though seemingly blind, the Elyrienx are able to see just as most other creatures do, yet at the same time may also see thermal heat as their regular vision serves them little in their dark cave residences. Their children are born flightless, yet as years progress eventually find flight easier, as is the case of their shifting. The babies are normally only able to morph to small insects, shrubs or small animals at most yet as they grow and enter adulthood are able to morph to the size of dragons for whatever time they please.
